2) Participate in the National Housing Call-In Day – July 27
President Trump’s 2018 budget reflects a cruel indifference to the millions of low income seniors, people with disabilities, families with children, veterans, and other vulnerable people who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads. It would slash federal investments in affordable housing at HUD by nearly 15% or $7.4 billion, compared to Fiscal Year (FY) 2017. The proposed cuts could mean more than 250,000 people could lose their housing vouchers. It would also impose punitive measures that would jeopardize family stability. Mr. Trump’s budget would harm thousands of the lowest income families by taking away their housing assistance.
On July 27 at 2pm EDT, advocates around the country will call their members of Congress to voice their support for programs that make homes affordable for those in need. Click here and enter your zip code to contact your Members of Congress and ask them to fully fund housing programs.
3) Tweet in a National Housing Twitterstorm – July 26
Join us on July 26 at 2pm ET for a national Twitterstorm. Use #OurHomesOurVoices to link your tweets to our national call for increased investments in affordable homes. By engaging on Twitter at the same time, we will draw the attention of members of Congress to the affordable housing crisis and the Our Homes, Our Voices campaign. Please tweet the Connecticut members of Congress:
