Community Developers Network

The Connecticut Housing Coalition assists nonprofit developers of affordable housing through its Community Development Network.  These community-based groups build and rehabilitate housing across Connecticut, working in some of the most difficult settings, serving those who are priced out or shunned by the private market.

The purpose of the Network is to promote the work of nonprofit housing development organizations, increasing their capacity and expanding the resources available for their work. The Network facilitates communications between nonprofit developers and public agencies, coordinates advocacy around policy initiatives, provides training and technical assistance, promotes opportunities to increase affordable housing production, and seeks to overcome barriers to the efficiency and scale of production.

The Connecticut Housing Coalition and Local Initiatives Support Corporation jointly sponsor Housing Connections.  Housing Connections offers training programs for both senior and junior development staff.  Past workshop subjects have included:  The Development Process, Strategic Planning, Multi-Family Rental Development, Home Ownership Tool Box, Financial Packaging, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Site Assembly, Neighborhood Revitalization, and Managing Partnerships and Development Teams, Real Estate 101, Green Building, and New Markets Tax Credits.

The Network is also engaged in a series of "Meet & Greet" Forums that bring affordable and supportive housing property managers and service providers around the table to discuss common issues.  This series is co-sponsored with the Corporation for Supportive Housing.
